About this event:
We had a great day on Thursday! We had a fantastic dance class with Ms. Rachel. We began with warm ups and then we split the group to play Hopscotch and Parachute, then back together to learn the next sequence of a dance routine.
After dance we moved inside for some lessons and snack. One group met with me as I introduced a new material used to trace a dotted line slowly and precisely. In addition to developing coordination and control, this lesson is used to promoting proper pencil grip, proper paper position for writing, moving from left to right, identifying left hand/right hand, opening, using and closing a marker properly, wiping with a damp sponge, drying with a small towel and maintaining an orderly workspace. It was very exciting!
Several students worked on their rainbow letter O. I presented the circle drawer of the Geometric Cabinet to another group of children. We talked about the similarities and differences of the 6 circles in the drawer. I introduced new nomenclature to them (plane inset, frame). I demonstrated the correct way to handle the materials, how to properly trace the insets and how to properly color them. The students have been assigned with follow up work for this presentation – to create a booklet of these circles. Another group worked with Ms. Lavonne on listening and following directions. It was great day at school! We will spend the rest of this month studying mammals. We will briefly discuss them in preparation for our field trip on Friday.
