Thank you to everyone for making today’s open house a wonderful success! Raiden’s and Hunter’s moms, Iris and Chelsea were at school from 2 – 6pm on Friday afternoon, mounting, hanging and displaying the children’s art work. Iris and Hunter’s dad, Rudy were at school again this morning to set up the refreshments and clean up after the event. They did an awesome job. A big thank you to Ms Susan, for organizing and implementing such a diverse curriculum for our children. It takes quite a bit of skill to be able to organize all of this activity while encouraging independence, diligence and respect from every child. On display were hand print giraffes, rock bug paintings, clay necklaces, paper plate necklaces, African masks, lion masks, flag banners, drums, family portraits, family glyphs, and African quilts that consisted of a handmade paper perforation of the shape of Africa, children’s drawings of a lion and an elephant, and colored or cut out of the shape of the continent. While I’m on the topic of listing all of the projects, I’d like to bring mention that a school performance, 3 parent presentations, 2 field trips and education nights were also part of the curriculum. Wow! Just how much was accomplished in just 2 months of school? A big thank you to Ms Lavonne, Ms Yvonne, Ms Rachael, and Mr Sam for working together with Ms Susan, to not only expose the children to the world around them, but to allow each child an opportunity to grow physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. A big thank you to all the families who participated in this morning’s event. It was certainly a great way to celebrate the children’s accomplishments over these past 2 months. We enjoyed meeting all the wonderful visiting family and friends, and look forward to seeing you all again on Monday for parent/teacher conferences.
