This morning we discussed birds that live near the ocean. We looked at the differences in the shapes of their peaks and feet from the birds that we are familiar with. We compared pelicans and robins.

We also looked at the different levels of the ocean. Although there are as many as 30 different levels, we focused on 5: shoreline (intertidal zone), surface waters coral reef), sunlit zone (euphoric zone), twilight zone (disphotic zone), abyssal zone (a photic zone). We have a large floor puzzle that illustrates these zones and the animals that one would find there.
