Montessori Day 8:00am – 5:30pm

With everyone now back from the winter break, our new napping assignments, a new snack and lunch routine, and a new outdoor schedule, was put in place to offer more flow with less transition periods. Our kindergartners used their after lunch/nap time to concentrate on developing proper handwriting skills. The afternoon students were introduced to the clock as an instrument for telling  time.  We counted by 5’s to 60, and observed the movements the hour and minute hands in relation to one another. We noticed that -time waits for no one-. We then attempted to draw a clock in our sketch pads and some noticed that their clocks were either too big or too small, others noticed that the numbers only went up to 12, others practiced drawing more circles to get the numbers written in their correct positions.  We had a great afternoon reading books, listening to the story of ‘Little White Duck’, identifying the beginning, middle and ending sounds in the words ‘duck, frog, bug, water, pond, lily, pad, jump, swim,’ learning how to tell time, and enjoying each other’s company.
