About this event:
Mia Kor, Ms. Jennifer’s 9 year old daughter, presented a PowerPoint on Australia to the class this morning. She told us all about living on Hayman Island off the coast of Queensland, near the Great Barrier Reef and in Sydney, New South Wales. Mia had us match Australian words and phrases with their American equivalents, such as, lolly=candy and cheers=thanks. Mia was wearing her Australian school uniform. She shared Anzac biscuits (oatmeal/coconut cookies) with us too. These cookies have a special meaning to the people of Australia and New Zealand. It is claimed that these cookies were sent abroad to soldiers by their wives beginning in World War I because the ingredients do not spoil easily. We enjoyed her presentation very much and learned more about what it is like to live in Australia.
