About this event:
This morning I introduced a new work on European monuments. This included the Eiffel Tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Stonehenge. The children were very excited about this lesson. It also has miniature replicas of the monuments.I introduced new flags today as well that correspond with the monuments. One was the Union Jack, the flag of the United Kingdom. It is a combination of the flags of the countries that make up the kingdom.
We talked about crustaceans today. In the February 2016 issue of National Geographic magazine there is an article about the eye. We looked at and learned about the eyes of several invertebrates. One was the bay scallop. We learned that a bay scallop can have up to 100 brilliant blue eyes along the edge of its shell. We also learned that the Giant Squid’s eye can be up to about a foot wide. It was an exciting day of learning!
A nudibranch is a very beautiful sea slug.
