The smaller aqueduct.

The smaller aqueduct.

This morning we discovered the aqueduct that Gage and Mr. Charlie worked on yesterday. Once everyone had arrived, I demonstrated how using a slope and the force of gravity you can move water over a good distance. We looked at pictures of Roman aqueducts on the computer and discussed how Romans engineers figured out how to get water across great distances.

We also discussed how much fresh water versus salt water is on the Earth (2.5% fresh and 97.5 salt). We talked about how important fresh water is to a majority of life forms on Earth and how we need to respect and conserve fresh water. We found out where our water comes from (Lake Ogletree) and how it has to be treated before it comes into our homes.
