Today the students learned that water covers 80% of our planet earth and water is either salt water or freshwater. Using popsicle sticks students did a quick salt water taste test. This exercise is particularly helpful for our students learning english as a second language. The students enjoyed making a salt water solution and forming a hypothesis as to wether an egg will sink or float in salt water vs. fresh water. One student predicited that the egg would float in salt water and sink in fresh water. The late afternoon students look forward to sharing the experiment with their friends tomorrow and perhaps choosing a similar work from the shelf utilizing soap.
