Music Integrated

Music is creatively incorporated into our study of the Universe. One activity involved having the children listen intensively for a harmonic sound that begins in silence and gently amplifies.  The sound is generated from the gentle rubbing of the rim of Tibetan singing bowl.  The children congregate in a tight circle representing that intense dense energy from which the universe began.  They begin to move their bodies to vibrate as the sound slowly increases.  When the singing bowl is unexpectedly struck, the children immediately silently explode into the environment representing the silent explosion of the Big Bang and the growth of space and time. As the drum begins to beat, the children randomly collide, but as the drum beat becomes rhythmic, they begin to attach to form groups representing heavenly bodies. Members of groups who were not able to corporate to form a body would spontaneously explode.
